They are probably called Monster Truck because of the soles. Monster trucks are the racing vehicle thingys with the big fat wheels aren\’t they? Look like a model truck stuck on top of a real truck\’s wheels? I can see the resemblance.

I had a pair of shoes like this when I was in sixth grade, except they were white and perpetually dirty. No lie.

That doesn\’t bother me in the least. I\’m much more concerned about how my shoes look than how they\’re named – esp. with a $23 pair! Now how these shoes look, I personally find their style to be kind of icky but not so bad that I would hold it against someone else for liking them.

Ugh! I thought they were done with platform sneakers back in like \’95?

They also seem to be a bit non- functional. Can those thick soles really bend correctly so that your feet stay in the shoe? I\’m all for crazy, hard to wear heels for fashion. But I like my sneakers to be able to let me break into a run if I want to.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw that in my mailbox today. Also reminded me of those big rubber soled construction boots little boys wear when they\’re four or five and need sturdy shoes with lots of traction while they run around and wreak havoc.

btw where has your blog been all my life? A few years ago I wanted a pair of shoes so badly I printed out a picture and framed it in my college dorm until I could afford the shoes!

OH, MY! I have those shoes. I guess it\’s individual taste. Tilda Swinton loves her pair of YSL sandals with the same platforms. I don\’t understand why people cannot be open and understanding of the small innovative changes designers pull. This isn\’t like the louboutin fish shoe or the ugly fit flops, or the other monstrosities out there. This, like the Marc Jacobs inverted heel and the Givenchy introduction of the open toe bootie, challenges people in fashion and opens new doors, which Stefano Pilati strives to accomplish. Not everyone supported Roger Vivier when he came out with the stiletto in the 1950s. I am sure he did get many skeptical views.

AnonDon\’t fret! I\’m sure I have lots of shoes other people don\’t like.I\’m all for innovation. We just like to poke some fun at the designers every once in a while… just to keep them humble! : )BTW – I thought the Louboutin fish feet were fun!LuvPoochie

Just reading back through your archives, and drooling over all the shoes. The Keith Richards picture kinda freaked me out. He actually reminds me of Dobby, the house elf, in the Harry Potter series. LOL!
