Fabulous Fendi

The more I see these Fendi Polifonia spiked heel ankle boots, the more I like them.

They are not my typical style but they are unusual and compelling.  In that way they remind me of the Proenza Schouler sandals I got a few years back.  I need to wear those more this summer, I think!

Luckily, for my wallet, these are sold out at Saks (but maybe they’ll come back).  There is a black version. $1368,  at LuisaViaRoma if you want to track them down!

New Wheels

I was sad when I got in a wreck just before Christmas in my beloved Cabrio but I’m excited to finally be in a new car.

I had to get something cute and fun, of course!

There were not many cars that caught my eye but finally I remembered the Fiats. And they have a convertible version!  I am now the owner of a 500c Pop!  It’s so adorable and I’m loving it.

I can’t wait for Spring weather so I can open up the top and cruise!

Golden Glitter Wings

I am entrance with these golden glitter sandals from AperlaïThey remind me of a modern Hermes (the Greek god) sandal.

With wing’ed sandals and staff in hand
I fly and deliver across the land
Wit sharp as knives, voice soft as fleece
Messenger, of the gods of Greece.

The patron saint of liars and thieves,
Still an ever constant force of good.
I guide and assist he who believes
As, I would think, any deity should.

Spearheader of invention, athletics, oration,
Brings me to note ‘Boxing’ was first my creation.
As such I watch over all matches and fighters,
While still patron of poetry, poets, and writers.

“Giant-killer Mercury,” they ask, “O who will prevail?”
I am he who is Hermes, and this is my tale.

Kate Goes To Hollywood

It seems there is some Hollywood fever coming for Fall.   My other favorite whimsical designer has movie magic on the brain.

Check out Kate Spade’s rendition of the film strip, in heel form and accessories –

I love the Caddyshack feel to these bags.

But my favorite is this popcorn holder clutch.  Yep, I’ve found my whimsy for Fall!

Art Deco A-Go-Go

Who is totally getting excited for the new The Great Gatsby movie?  And who is totally banking on old Hollywood glamour, art deco and decadent flapper style being hot for Fall/Winter 2013?

Is it Charlotte Olympia?  I think it is.

Oh, yes, the Charlotte Olympia Fall line is totally made for the Gatsby-loving lady. The heels are filled with deco design elements:

Lush curves, malachite patterns and opulent jewels, even a nod to the 20’s ladies themselves…

But Charlotte has not forgotten to add in the whimsical touches. It’s all show biz!  I love the “film strip” sandals, the “Walk of Fame” star clutch and, of course, the lighted mirror clutch!

Her other accessories channel the Chrysler building, Clara Bow, and quite literally, Louise Brooks.

What a collection!  Now we just need a fabulous supper club to whisk off to and a champagne fountain!

Wedding Bell Shoes

I’ve been speaking with a lovely bride-to-be about what to splurge on for her wedding.

Besides the event items – for us it was good drinks, food and a live band – there are the items for you the bride.

Back when I got married, I had actually never thought I would get married, so I didn’t have a ton of ideas or preferences.  I was probably so un-opinionated that I was annoying to my vendors.  The dress I got was okay, I did my own make-up, I should have gone with a different hairstyle.

And I didn’t really get very special shoes.

If I were to do it again, or if we were to do a vow renewal, I would have more of a theme to tie the day together, I’d wear a completely different style of dress and I’d probably get a really bright pair of shoes.

I love the idea of a fluffy white dress with a pop of colorful shoes.  The green ones above are great but I love the traditional “blue” shades too.  These beauties are all from BHLDN

I also think a pair of glittery heels would be fun too, especially in a great color.  Miu Miu, does the best, of course.

If we had to plan a wedding re-do right now, I’d find a 1950s dress and pair it with my silver Miu Miu pumps and sparkle down the aisle.

Maybe I do need a vow renewal!
