Pulling from the archives – Miu Miu Spring 2016

I was flipping through the Spring 2016 issue of Barney’s The Window last night and chuckled when I saw the following feature of Miu Miu wedge sandals…

Why did I laugh?

Because I know that fabric.   It’s from one of my favorite Miu Miu collections – Spring 2010.

I loved so many pieces from this collection, but especially my cat printed mary janes that I wear all the time…

I mean, hell, it’s my site banner image!

But I recognized the prints used immediately.  Here they are in the original show from six years ago.

Amazing.  But in a good way?  I’m not sure.

I love the threads of theme that carry through over the seasons for Miu Miu and Prada but I do find it surprising this reuse of fairly iconic patterns.  Six years isn’t that long ago.  And frankly, the new shoe design has none of the girlish whimsy that paired so well with the fabric patterns.

I loved these designs but seeing them again now, well, this seems like a rehash.

Cookie Monster Cure-All

It’s been raining for days here and I’ve been busy with work and other things to plan, so I feel like I’ve been lacking in inspiration. I’m also trying to avoid temptation until I go to Ireland.

But there is one thing that’s actually made me smile and make me wish it came in my size… these kids tees by Morfs at Barneys.

I particularly love the pink Cookie Monster tee with giraffe-y sleeves. It’s not like Cookie Monster was my favorite but this is so cute.

I love that it’s done as an applique.

This should come in my size too!!!

Maybe some real cookies can pep me up since I don’t get the shirt.

Final Days in NYC

So, to wrap up the almost week in New York, I ran around and did some more meets and greets and shopping (of course).

On Monday, I had the opportunity to meet Sarah from Style It and Beka from ReLyme for a quick lunch. It was so nice to meet more of my online friends in person, plus it gave me an opportunity to wear more of the ginormous amount of clothes I brought with me.

I finally got to wear my other vintage hat that I bought (along with the brown feathery one). I guess you would actually call this more of a fascinator rather than an actual hat.

Isn’t it cute?

I purposefully bought a pair of cropped fuchsia gloves from Sermoneta to go with it. After meeting the girls for lunch and then finding another cupcake bakery, I made my way back to the hotel. Miss Wendy B. came by and picked me up and we went on our adventure down to Christian Francis Roth’s studio so I could try on the fabulous kilt pin skirt. More on that in another post so you have to be patient!

Sadly, after being wine’d and dined by Wendy and Mr. B the night before, I had to get up and get packing to head back home (*sad face*)… but not before I crammed in some last minute shoe shopping!

Well, can you blame me? Barney’s was having a sale!

Anyways, did you happen to see these cute Chanel booties in the March Harper’s Bazaar as worn by SJP?

They’re very cute, right?

Yeah, well, they aren’t that great on me. (*another sad face*)

But I did get a pair that I’m going to share with you later (mainly because they aren’t even online and I didn’t take a picture. What a dope!)

What I did take a picture of are these:

Lime green Manolos with a super skinny, super tall heel. We are talking spindly here.

These babies are winging their way to me now. I also tried on the YSL Tribute Too pumps in black patent but quickly ran out of the store before I shopped more.

Not that I’m not still thinking about them….

Something Old, Something New, Something Changed… it’s not Blue?

Everyone remembers the other big character in the SATC movie. No, not New York! I’m talking about the Manolo Blahnik Hangisi “Something Blue” satin and rhinestone pumps.

You had to know that a heel that got this much attention and was so popular, wasn’t going be a one time shot. Okay, maybe you knew that. I thought Manolo would just integrate elements like the new heel design done for the piece, because I was totally stopped in my tracks when I saw the shoe in new colors on the Barney’s site.

Black –

and Yellow

The black is elegant but so safe (yawn!) and I like the yellow but it’s not as contrast-y as I would like it. Of course, I’m still in love with my blues. They are just an amazing color and you can’t help but stare at them.

I would love this in a dusky grey-lavender or even a icy white. Maybe even a flashy hot pink. What colors would you have picked?

Oh, My Giddy Heart!

In spite of some of the Stella McCartney craziness we saw from her this past season, I was totally smitten with these platform sandals. I was browsing the Barney’s sale (why? why? why???) and saw them. There. On sale. For a huge amount off.

OMG!

Luckily they didn’t have my size.

But never one to let a shoe get away I thought, well, maybe I’d just see if there were any in my size in the stores. Now, these started at 6, per the Stella site, so I probably won’t even have the option.

Yeah, no, they had a 5.5 and it was the last one left.

Dear Reader, I got them.

I hope they are as beautiful in person as they are here. I think they are going to make me 10 feet tall! There’s still plenty of warm weather left to wear them, right???

Not for Shrinking Violets

So, as to be expected, the shoes coming on the scene for the next season are airy and colorful. Vibrant shoes with streamlined styles that let the color take center stage. They aren’t overly embellished or precious. And definitely not pastels!

Here’s a collage sample of the gorgeousness (Click to enlarge):
