Fall/Winter 2012 Themes – Chic Schoolgirl and Deep Woods Floral

I am loving how Pinterest is helping me to refine my vision and themes for each season, which I do twice a year.

In the Spring, I had Pastel Ice Cream Sundae and Vintage Garden Party, which included a color scheme of pink/mint/white/lilac/mocha and cobalt/hot pink/coral/navy/neon/black.  Textures and patterns were polka dots, pastel plaids, floral and seersucker. Some key purchases were a cobalt Celine bag, neon pink watch, hot pink blazer, mint patent loafers and pink glitter Miu Miu sunglasses, among other items.  My board for the season is here.

I already have a pretty full board for Fall/Winter 2012.  The first theme is Chic Schoolgirl.

This theme uses black/white/grey/silver/gold/taupe/creme/pink with contrasting collars, cap-toe mary janes, houndstooth and polka dots.  There’s lots of shine, glitter, sparkles, and bows.  Sweet with a bit of naughty.

I’ve found a great contrast collar sweater dress, a silver sequin skirt, Miu Miu silver glitter heels, a cat ear pearl headband, chunky sparkly necklaces and long opera pearls.  Simple black Converse and charcoal over-the-knee socks will be mixed in too.
The second theme is Deep Woods Floral.  This theme is romantic, lush and misty.  Deep burgundy, moss, smoke, emerald green, navy, dark brown and red. Woodsy florals, distressed finishes and sueded textures make for a very touchable and cozy look.

Tall boots with ruffles, an arrow necklace in sliver, a bright red maple leaf fascinator and gold tassel loafers are going to make repeat appearances over the next few months.

I think of these themes almost as the flip sides to each other.  One is cool and crisp and playful.  The other is warm and embracing.  I like to have variety as I never know how I’m going to feel, who I’m going to want to be.

I’ve switched out my closets for the new season.  It’s now officially Fall.

Darn You, JCrew

JCrew is trying to ruin me.  I cannot resist all the polka dot/plaid/stripe/tweed/snakeskin print goodness.

I actually am tempted by these adorable sweaters and I generally don’t like crew neck tops!  We’ll see what actually works and stays around for Fall/Winter.

Oh, yeah, I got a pair of cap-toe heels too.  It’s sickening how cute all this stuff is!

Push It Payless

Each Fall I get a little bit jazzed about the runways shoes by the Payless-affiliated designers like Lela Rose and Christian Siriano.  Not only do I like their clothing styles but they always show some lovely shoes.

This year was no different.  I pinned a few lovely pairs to my Fall 2012 board in hopes they would make it to reality…

But, sadly again, the reality is not as edgy as the originals.

While these pumps are nice enough, and close to those shown above, they are missing the sheen and the height.  Can’t girls on budget have cute shoes too???  And these aren’t even that “cheap” at $55!

Maybe more are on the way… right? Well, yes, the whole collection should be out in September. So I’m reserving full judgement until then.

The only collaboration that seems to really be consistently keeping up in the design arena is the Isabel Toledo collection.  I like her edgy style, especially these Fluevog-esque mary janes.

Two-tone, patent, fun heel.  These are heels I’d be happy to pick up from Payless, even for $55!

Payless, if you want to up your price range, you need to up your design bravery.

Pre-Fall Passionate – with JCrew

Earlier in the year, I was excited to read that Manolo Blahnik was pairing with JCrew to do the shoes for Fall 2012.  Two of my favorite brands!

While that pairing has fallen by the wayside, the shoes arriving now for Pre-Fall, are working to fulfill against the pretty heels shown at their Fall presentation.  There are a number of polished pumps and interestingly patterned t-straps. I’d love to add a whole slew of them to my shopping cart!

And I’m still hopeful that many of the shoes I most coveted will actually be made because they are accessorizing the wonderful ensembles available for pre-order in the Lookbook.
Not only do a want the shoes, but I have to admit, I’m in serious swoon for almost everything featured.
These are my favorites:

I love the tweed from head-to-toe look here –

The spectator tasseled heel above is great but I also love the loafer!

I’m ready to dive right in but am biding my time.  What do they have in store for the full Fall collection?!?

Le Sigh – Manolo Blahnik Fall/Winter 2012 Collection

Manolo Blahnik is killing me with his Fall/Winter 2012 collection.  Gorgeous fabrics.  Clever embellishments.  Perfect heel shapes.  Basically my style – classic shapes with unique elements.

From baroque fabric and ribbons to french knots to jeweled buckles, they’re lush and lovely.  I see he’s still using his BB heel but also candlestick shapes as well as well-balanced weightier options. And the colors are great as always.

Here are my favorites but you can see the full collection here.
