Ensemble du Jour – Labor Day Dressing

Yesterday we had a lovely day off and spent it trying a new restaurant and leisurley browsing at the nice mall in Charlotte, South Park Mall.

I decided to wear a dress I had not had an opportunity to wear yet – my JCrew sequin stripe dress.  I love the heavier knit and the marine shades of the multi-sized sequins scattered in an ombre pattern.

I paired this with my cobalt Celine Luggage tote – always a handy size to carry.

For shoe, I’d thought about wearing my marine sequin Louboutins but decided to be more neutral and tie in with the color of the creme fabric.  I ended up wearing my lacy Enzo Angiolini Eamaxino peep-toes.

Found a few cute tops for Fall, which I’m eagerly anticipating!

Hurry up cool weather!

Seeing Stripes

I’m finally able to wear some of my new Spring dresses.

I loved the classic black and white broad stripe dress from The Limited. It will be perfect to combine with tons of colors and other patterns.

I paired it with a bright pink JCrew cardigan and my JCrew Liza Peep-toe heels in the Cherry Blossom print.

It’s going to be dresses all Spring and Summer, with lots of color!

Ensemble du Jour – 3-24-12

Yeah! An Outfit of the Day!

I finally had the chance to wear one of my new print dresses for spring.  I was going to the farmer’s market and a lunch meet-up so how cute would it be to wear my new ModCloth A Hen-chant for Eggs-ellence Dress.  I mean, could the print be any better?

I paired it with a black cardi and a vintage purse and my Lillybee Jessica peep-toe mary janes.

The weather is finally getting to that perfect point where you can wear the fun dresses and pretty heels.
It’s my favorite part of the season!

Beholden Unto You

I always love discovering a new place to buy dreamy decadent shoes.  Somehow, probably through an image on Pinterest, I made my way to BHLDN (aka Beholden), a lovely bridal store based in PA, with stores in Chicago and Houston.

If the pictures I’ve seen of the stores and of the products are anything to go by, this is a magical lush experience.   If you were not giddy about planning a wedding before, you will be once you see everything they offer.

Their “about” page spells out their philosophy as:

Our roots are with Anthropologie, so a passion for experience and creating one-of-a-kind moments runs deep. But our offering speaks more to the not-so-everyday occasions—ours is a voice that celebrates a woman’s most anticipated milestones. And one that gives tradition a twist.

We want, more than anything, to help a woman create an event that reflects her own unique perspective… to a tee. We want to give a bride that edit she’s been searching for—with heirloom-quality wedding gowns, artisanal hair adornments, footwear, and lingerie. And we want happy bridesmaids—in mix-and-match frocks with rich hues and unexpected details.
But it goes beyond the dress. Our goal, and the reason we drape, fold, bustle, and stitch, is to start a conversation with our customer—to build a resource where she can come to find inspiration and to share with those closest to her, as well as our broader coterie. BHLDN’s story is unfolding; and we’ll look to our customer for cues and guidance going forward.
There are no checkboxes. No fill-in-the-blanks. On the contrary, we think a moment should be as layered and dimensional as the woman standing within it.

How lovely.

While I’m far from my wedding planning days, I am still interested in pretty headpieces, gloves and, of course, beautiful shoes.

And, oh, do they have beautiful shoes.  Most are in shades of cream and white but a large number of them are picking up on the trend of injecting a surprise pop of color with a shoe in blue, green or even gold.

I had to get a few pairs.  They were too pretty to pass up.

The first pair were the Stratosphere Mary Janes from Chie Mihara.  I think they will be adorable with dresses but imagine having glittery stars on your feet as you walked down an aisle or twirled on the dance floor.

I was enraptured by the color of these saffron slingbacks from Something Bleu.  I love satin heels and these seem to glow.  I love the playful yet elegant bow too.  I’m going to pair these up with cobalt and brown and maybe even pink.

And I couldn’t pass up these d’Orsay peep-toes made with vintage polka-dot fabric and gem-encrusted bows.  Limited edition pumps from Bettye Muller?  Yes please and thank you.

I’m not planning my wedding (maybe I need a vow renewal!) but wearing these heels is sure to make it feel like a special day.  I may have to go back to find some equally pretty accessories and see what new styles they discover next.

In the Mix

I am serious about studs and I’m so glad to see they aren’t going away just yet. I think Mr. Louboutin is doing the best thing with studs of anyone around.  Each shoe I love better than the one before.

So I’m seriously in love with these new Pik Pik peep-toe sling backs at Net-a-Porter ($995)

He’s upped the ante with a mix of metals, pyramid studs and spikes. Of course they’d look great with jeans, elongate your legs for a dress but I’d like to pair them with a slouchy stripe top and wide-legged khaki slacks.

Ensemble du Jour: 1-9-11

We sort of had a date night today.  We went to see the Winston-Salem symphony play  Finlandia by Sibelius and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, so I got to wear one of my party dresses.

I don’t believe in restricting clothes between work and play but some dresses I think are a mite too short for the office.  Maybe they are, maybe they aren’t but I play it safe.
But I love this little Neapolitan-colored dress from Lulu’s. I actually wore this same outfit to the IFB Blogger’s party, but we were running around so much I didn’t get any pictures. That time I wore it with black tights, a longer belted cardigan and patent heels.  Here I changed it up with a shorter cardigan, white tights and black velvet peep-toe slingbacks with sweet bows on the front.

Here’s a better look at the dress…

And the shoes…

First outfit post of the year, so we’re starting off on a fun note!  By the way, I can’t believe it’s only been one week since I’ve been back in the office.  I’m ready for another vacation already!
