New Wheels

I was sad when I got in a wreck just before Christmas in my beloved Cabrio but I’m excited to finally be in a new car.

I had to get something cute and fun, of course!

There were not many cars that caught my eye but finally I remembered the Fiats. And they have a convertible version!  I am now the owner of a 500c Pop!  It’s so adorable and I’m loving it.

I can’t wait for Spring weather so I can open up the top and cruise!

Shoe Daydreams is Five!

It’s hard to believe that I’ve had this site for five years already!  It’s been a time filled with fun and friends and amazing experiences.  Thank you to everyone and I look forward to more years of day dreaming together.

Sweet Dreams from Sugar Bean Bakery

I have been sooo busy in the last few weeks. From traveling for work, to just working, I feel like I’ve been out of action.

But I had to add one more thing to my plate. It was a ton of work, but also a ton of fun.

I decided to do a Sugar Bean Bakery booth at a local art show on Saturday.  I spent a good 12+ hours baking and packaging and a few days before that planning my decor.  When Saturday came around, I was glad it wasn’t raining!  I pulled out my favorite cake stands and set up my goodies.

All proceeds are going to a local farm animal refuge that is in development and, since we totally sold out, I will be getting to give them $360!

I really really loved my booth (as you can tell from the tons of pictures with more going on Flicker), making delicious vegan goodies and can’t wait to do it again in the fall!

Ensemble du Jour: 7-8-11

In spite of the fact that it’s a million degrees out and I’m not happy in/with this image, I’m sharing it because, well… I’m wearing a “mullet” skirt for WendyB.

I had actually fallen in love with a asymmetrical (aka mullet) skirt last fall but missed out on the one I really wanted.  I had called all over to no avail and over the winter put it out of my mind.  But I found this light jersey skirt at Nasty Gal (in two colors!) for only $38 and picked it up.

The fabric is very comfy and floaty.  It is actually perfect for summer as you can wear it with sandals or knee-high boots (not those tragic ones in the photo) or heels and while it’s as easy breezy as a maxi skirt or dress, it’s more interesting and attention grabbing!

I paired it with my custom Paraphernalia necklace and Camila Skovgaard Chastity Sandals. A strong graphic and sexy heel, especially with an ankle strap, works great with this skirt.  But I’m also planning on wearing it with a jacket and my Ann Demeulemeester triple-lace boots in the Fall.

I think Wendy is planning a round up of more skirts, so I’ll link to it here when that happens.  I can’t wait to see all the other outfits!

Ensemble du Jour: 12-11-10, The Christmas Party edition

So I followed my heart and heeded your advice and went for Option 1 of the Party Outfit options – the ruffle-y dress with a poofy crinoline and hawt heels.
It was super fun to wear this and the inexpensive Forever 21 dress did me proud.  I felt quite festive all night long.

I ended up wearing, on the advice of the hubby, polka dot stockings which I paired up with the Manolo Blahnik Campari mary janes.

And I used this cute little vintage beaded purse to hold my lipstick, lipgloss and phone.  The peachy flowers echoed the embellishments on my cardigan.

Make-up is usally pretty simple for me, even when going out – some shimmery shadow, a bit of eyeliner on the top and Chanel’s Rouge Coco “Paris” lipstick.

Thanks for the advice and support!

Ensemble du Jour: 12-10-10

I got all ambitious on Friday night and took a whole slew of pictures for posts.  I’ve been meaning to take outfit posts all week but have been leaving so late from work that it didn’t work out.  But I had time on Friday so I thought I would try the auto-timer.  But the angles and lack of light made them all turn out crummy, so I asked the hubby to take a few shots.  Somehow I look like I’m 2 feet tall in a Willy Wonka room.  How did he even manage that?!?

But look – my hair’s still dark!  And apparently I’ve lost all my lipstick and eyeshadow!  Whoo hoo!

But I did have sort of a cute outfit on.  Purple cardigan from New York and Company, lavender polka-dot cami from Target, woven, almost knitted skirt from Anthropologie (about 8 years ago), brown tights and Nine West TwoStepr pumps.

The details are what make this skirt, the overlapping panels, woven together multi-colored yarns/threads, the mint green velvet ribbon stitched through and the pom-poms.

I actually tried to style this similar to how the skirt was styled in the catalog.  I wish I’d saved it.  At the time they had these awesome wingtip heels in the shot and I couldn’t find them in my size.  So I gave Nine West a shot and came away with two perfect pairs that had all the details I was looking for.
These are great because they fit perfectly and are not too high for walking around all day.

They’re so snazzy, I love them. They feel like precursors to all the brogues and oxfords I’m wearing now.
