The Perfect Pair for a Party – Jeffrey Campbell Noel Tinsel Heel

Do you ever see something totally outrageous and think “Dammit, that has ‘Me’ written all over it!” and know that it had to be yours?

 No?   Just me?

Well, the other day on Instagram I saw that Refinery 29 had reposted this image from Rockie Nolan of amazing, out-of-this-world, who-would-buy-these, silver tinsel slingback heels and was immediately smitten.

I mean, how could you not be???

I had to have them!  Luckily Rockie posted who made them and the style name – Jeffrey Campbell Noel Tinsel heels.

How fun are they?!?

They’re actually even better in person.  I do love a subtle, conservative heel…

I joke, but don’t put this past me to just wear to work or out for dinner or something.  I mean, why not?

You have to have fun with your fashion and if these aren’t fun, I don’t know what is.

Neon, neon

I haven’t worn this JCrew skirt nearly enough. I love the bright, almost neon, pink of the sequins. How they swish and move and reflect the light.

I paired it with a simple black top and then bookended it with Sophia Webster Daria slingbacks with the black cap and the neon orange and pink patterned straps and heels.

And this clutch just arrived from Kate Spade. The Kiss Me, You Fool clutch is a part of the “On Purpose” collection and I just love it.  I wish I’d had it to wear with the skirt and heels.

I almost never wear my midsize bags any more. It’s all about the clutch and Kate Spade does do the best whimsical clutches around.

You’ll be seeing this a lot come Spring.

In the Mix

I am serious about studs and I’m so glad to see they aren’t going away just yet. I think Mr. Louboutin is doing the best thing with studs of anyone around.  Each shoe I love better than the one before.

So I’m seriously in love with these new Pik Pik peep-toe sling backs at Net-a-Porter ($995)

He’s upped the ante with a mix of metals, pyramid studs and spikes. Of course they’d look great with jeans, elongate your legs for a dress but I’d like to pair them with a slouchy stripe top and wide-legged khaki slacks.

Shoe of the Day: YSL Tribute Slingback Peep-toe

I have been posting my Shoe of the Day over on the Shoe Daydreams Facebook page for a while now but I’m adding it here too.

Today’s Shoe is the Yves Saint Laurent Tribute peep-toe slingback.

This shoe came out at the same time as the platform Tribute mary jane that everyone seemed to have and still continues to be evolved in sandal and other pump iterations.

I loved the contrast heel but didn’t want the platform. I thought the non-platform slingback was more elegant.

Contrast heels are pretty common now but this shoe had one other unique element – the petal peep-toe. While most peep-toes are a round cut-out this shoe began with two petals forming the less-conspicuous window. The shape has been utilized by McQueen (and copied by numerous others!)

I’m wearing these with a black v-neck cardigan and a Michael Kors leopard print skirt.

Bolt from the Blue

Sometimes you just don’t know where it comes from.

Who has ever had a craving that just pops into your mind, and in spite of your rational self saying you know you can’t have it at right now (like wanting a favorite food IMMEDIATELY), you still can’t help yourself.

I think it’s how obsessions are born.

While brushing my teeth this morning, it suddenly occurred to me that I HAD TO HAVE sky blue patent shoes.

Maybe because I have always loved the sky blue Miu Miu double strap mary janes. I have them in silver. I so should have bought them in blue too! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

What was I thinking not to get these???

So I put the call out and started a shoe search of my own.

These are the right color but they are pretty pointy. I think I want a more rounded toe. The price is right though.

These are interesting and I like the shape (no idea on price) but a bit too electric blue for what I want.

I kind of like these even though they are not sky blue or patent. Must not get distracted!

So no luck! What the heck? Is baby blue out this season? Bummer.

What I did find, to tide me over are these – the Melissa and Vivienne Westwood collaboration Lady Dragon heels.

Adorable, right???

They’re kind of hard to find and only start at a size 6, so I hope they fit okay.

These come in a few other colors although availability is limited. I got mine from Epaulet.

I actually need black flats much more than I need sky blue patent heels, but now I can’t get them out of my head.
Obsession!!!!!!!!

Pink Daggers

So yesterday I wore my new TokyoMade Chapter Pinky Sparkle ring (LOVE!) –

But if you are going to do girly pink… let’s do some GIRLY PINK!

Paired up with my pink glitter Chinese Laundry Dagger slingbacks (and a pink Lou Lou Loves You bow) you couldn’t miss me.

These shoes are fun, although they are a bit brighter pink than I had thought they would be. And the toe area is a bit pointier than I would prefer, but hey! Pink glitter!

The box is even cute too.

If I ever find other/better pink glittery shoes, I think I’d replace these but for now I likey.

Donning the Purple

I was looking back on some older posts and realized I went through a bit of a grey suede phase there and then I was all over blue satin too. I think I just get a color stuck in my head and fall in love with it, obsessively search it out and can’t get enough.

Now I’m in love with purple/lavender/violet/fuschia heels. Not pink, because lord knows I have tons of pink (not that I’d turn more down! And, OMG! That list is from ’97 and I know I have even more now!) And I realized, I don’t think I have any shoes that are purple. I do have some with purple in them but no purple, no lavender, nothing!

Can that really be true? So instead of opening up every shoe box to be sure, maybe I should just get some… ya know… just in case.

Right?

I am currently smitten by all of these. I love the Sedaraby shape. It’s a gorgeous shoe.

But do I prefer Raspberry, above, or Purple? Do I love the Raspberry one because the color is called Raspberry? Is it too close in color to my Guess Pyramid heels? Maybe I should just start with Purple and then figure out a way to get the Raspberry too. Oh and did I mention I’d love to have these in white?

I know I wrote about these before, but, I still can’t get them out of my mind. Dammit!

And now these. I adore these Viva Lolo heels. They’re so adorable and have such a classy shape. The color is so unique. WANT!

I am also seeing a growing obsession for deep peacock teal shoes too. I must be stopped!

Not Fair

I was going to say: If life were fair, I would have these, but that sounds awfully selfish.

Instead, I’ll say: I want these. Give them to me NOW!

This is why I love Resort shoes. Yes, that is the most delicate lilace suede.

Le Sigh!

And these, like a cascade of frangipani blossoms dancing around your feet. They have them in black too, but how could you resist the pink?

Mnsr. Louboutin, I applaud you.

Both at Bergdorf Goodman.

4 Heels, 3 Ladies, 2 Cities and 1 Big Disappointment

Way back in February the fabulous Queen Marie did a post about these amazing Jil Sander architectural heels she saw in a magazine. Being a Spring/Summer 2008 shoe, they were not yet available, but I blithely gave my heart away to them.

I had been instantly smitten by the grey and pink color combination, the almost non-existent straps, and obviously, the amazing structural heel.

I’m not usually one for overly modern styles but I was just in love with them. When the styles started hitting the stores I immediately looked online. And while there were several in the line that were similar, the pink and grey color combo were nowhere to be found.

So I contacted the main inquiry line and found out that no one in the US had a 35.5 on the stock list. The only store anywhere that got the heel in a 35.5 was the Milan store. Well, distance is no object when you’re in love, right?

Vanessa in the Milan store was very helpful and we finally got the payment information all arranged and my heels were winging their way to me.

Except when they finally arrived and I ripped open the box I was in for a disappointment. The heel was pink and grey. Although the pink was more like a grape-y burgundy and the grey was much darker. Not what I wanted at all. I got back in touch with the New York Jil Sander office and they offered to help me by letting me return the shoes to them and by tracking down another option. Sadly the pink and grey slingbacks that I so loved were not going to be made at all! I was so depressed!

But they did say they had an ankle strap version in either pink, pinkish-orange, or grey. The only 35.5s were only available in the Milan store again, so I said send me the pink or pink-ish orange and then patiently waited.

They’re both very pretty, no?

A while later the DSL truck pulled up and delivered the long anticipated shoes. I ripped open the wrapping and there they were…. in bright FRICKING ORANGE!!!!

I did not sign up for orange. I would NOT consider them “pink-ish orange”. I look horrible in this color orange. UGH!

Yes, they’re still a gorgeous shoe but for the cost, I’m not going to keep a shoe that is less than what I wanted. So, sadly, they went back to New York and ultimately Milan. These shoes are better traveled than I am lately.

I will say that the ladies I worked with from Jil Sander were very nice and very helpful, so I don’t blame them too much. They just need to not feature heels that they aren’t going to make (I’m not talking runway heels, this was featured in a magazine as a item for Spring) and they need to get their descriptions in line. If you’re interested in this shoe be advised, the toe strap is very very tight. Just don’t tell me about it because I will be so jealous.
