Instant Access – 11/7 – 12/3

I swear once the year hits September, the days and weeks just fly by until the end of the year.  There is so much going on it feels like we need 3 extra weekends a month just to fit it in.

And the weather has been crazy here too.  From days in the 70s around Thanksgiving to rain to cold-cold-cold!  What’s going on.

Just from looking at all the recent shoes that happened these past weeks, you can see how all over the place the temperatures have been.

Manolo Blahnik Erratic mary janes with tonal fishnet tights…

The Aldo leopard slipper loafers came in from ASOS and were promptly worn.

I love these mustard tights, especially with warm brown.

Gossip girl inspired outfits and spat-style boots

Short-work-week Converse.

And a sneak peak at some early Resort/Spring Blahnik Sammys

Finally there was some tight-wearing weather so I got to wear these new dotted Hue tights.

But then it was warm enough for bringing out my easily 10-year-old Jimmy Choos.

I do love some of the details in my shoes, like these little cutouts on my Report pumps.

And as many shoe changes, there were almost as many new polishes combos to try.  From China Glaze’s It’s Alive (a wonderful dark green glitter)…

to Revlon’s Starry Pink over Revlon’s Metallic

Essie’s Forget Me Knot (which was worn with the ASOS heart sweater below and matched perfectly!) …

The coveted OPI Rainbow Connection

A perfect gray – OPI’s Concrete Catwalk

And another shimmery green in Zoya’s Edyta

I did get one day of wearing some fabulously tonal accessories.

And it’s the season of shopping to, so I may have bought a few things, like a new macro lens for my DSLR.

A few necessaries at Ulta

Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet matte lipsticks had to be mine.

Okay, so I went a bit overboard on the nail polish deals on Amazon.

My Express sparkly skirt was even more magical in person.  I’m in love!

Hearts and dots!

And TONS of baking!!!!

Apple oat muffins

Pumpkin Chocolate chip

Birthday surprise cake pops

And libations galore…

Cheers!

Liking Loafers

A few years ago I rarely looked at flats with any excitement.  They all seemed plain, boring and utilitarian.  But now, flats are fun again!  And with that, I’m seeing more and more that I really like.

I’ve always like ballet flat, oxfords and penny and tassel loafers but these revamped classic slipper loafers are so playful and fun.  It started with the leopard loafer debate (I ended up getting the Aldo pair, marked down and with a promo code… woot!), but I think I need more!

My favorite pair are these Stubbs & Wootton Delphin pair.  I collect vintage Victorian silver serving pieces adorned with these dolphins, so I’m totally smitten.  And S&W are known for their tongue-in-cheek preppy designs.  These are $400 but their from the iconic maker, so that’s expected.

For a more feminine take on the slipper, I love the lace pair from ASOS.  These are called “Lord of the Manor” and are just under $63.

These dalmatian patterned pair from Aldo are one of the most striking designs.  They’re available on ASOS for $125 and on the Aldo site for $90.

If you want something Stubbs & Wootton-esque but not quite as pricey, these Leo velvet jeweled slippers are just $89 on ASOS.

Another dalmatian dotty pair, this time from Topshop.  These are just $60 and perfect for inside and out.

And for a more subtle option (just kidding!), these grey glittery pair, also from Topshop, are perfect for jazzing up a simple outfit. They’re only $40 and come in black as well.

Both ASOS and TopShop have tons of options, from jeweled velvet to glitters and leopard print.  These are the perfect cozy shoe so it’s easy to get swept up in getting a glamorous collection.

Looking for Leopard

Flats are slowly taking over my life and my wardrobe.  Not sure what’s happening here, but the cute stuff is happening in loafers and oxfords, sneakers and slippers.

I am currently trying to decide how to incorporate some sweet leopard flats (I only have a pair of leopard kitten heels) to carry me through Fall and Winter.

I’ve narrowed it down to 2 options, the first is this Aldo Buschur pair for $125 via ASOS.

The second pair is from River Island and are a bit more detailed and a less expensive at $53.91. Also from ASOS.

Which do you think???

Designer Focus – Daniel Green

I was sifting through the vintage shoes on eBay the other day and saw these amazingly decadent boudoir slippers that rivaled anything coming from Agent Provocateur or Victoria’s Secret. The shape was a retro heeled slipper and they were the perfect accompaniment for the vintage slips that I am loving.

I love the almost cupcake swirly-ness of this rosette.

The Daniel Green brand has a history that goes back to 1881, when he saw factory workers wearing shoes made of leftover scraps of piano felt to keep their feet warm on the cold floors. From those humble beginnings, the company grew. It started with Daniel and his brother creating shoes in a room over their kitchen to selling over 75,000 in their 3rd year of business. Pretty impressive!

In my opinion though, the company must have been in their heyday with the styles from the 40’s – 60’s, which are most of the ones you see here. The colors were rich and I’m just in love with the ruffles. They almost look like shoes from the French court of Louis the XVI.

Here’s a peek at some of the gorgeous pairs I found on eBay. Can’t you see someone like Lana Turner or Marilyn Monroe swanning around in these and a negligee?

I got a pair of red ones like the ones just above – with the tulle and button – and a pair with the stain ruffle rosette.

You can even see the decadence in these more house slipper styles. The shape is more conservative but still with sumptuous details and fabric.

The sad thing is that the styles of the Daniel Green shoes have seemed to age as their early clientele has. The company is still around but they are much less sexy than they used to be. Maybe in the 1960’s and 1970’s it wasn’t cool to wear feminine boudoir slippers so they had to adapt to keep going.

But now is the time to reclaim them. And eBay has some great pairs, many of which are pristine. And the cost is cheap. Usually around $15 or so. Maybe if they become big sellers again we’ll see a return to the glamorous styles. If anything, you can have a lovely satiny girl-y slipper to pair with your seduction ensemble.
