Sam & Libby for Target

I was excited, when I popped into Target over the weekend, to see the new Sam & Libby for Target shoe collection.  I have a number of  Sam & Libby shoes from ages ago and they are always cute.

This collection is reasonably priced and had a variety of styles from sandals to wedges to loafers.  I especially liked the ballet flats.

The loafers are great with jeans and the cap-toe ballet flats are pefect with shorts and dresses and skirts. I got the black/creme pair and the taupe/neon yellow pair.

Not all stores will have all the styles, so check online too. The Bree ballet flats, for example, also come in a creme/tan and a light turquoise (which I may have to order as well!)

I think the flats are the best designs in the collections and they look fancier than their price, so snap a few up!

Yeah! I took an outfit shot.

Boo! I had to over-expose the crap out if it so you can actually see it. I swear, my house is a cave.

This is a simple v-neck jersey dress from Target from a year or two ago.  It’s very flowy and comfortable and good for summer.  I love the length and the way it swirls around when I walk.  But the neckline goes a bit low for work.

So I just did a small mod with a vintage scarf.  Tied in a knot and worn necklace style around the neckline it breaks up the black and provides just enough coverage.

I was in a pink mood so I paired this with my BCBG Max Azria Caldrea mary janes.

This vintage scarf is a great size and the pattern is a fun asian garden motif.

And that’s my tip of the day!

Yes, I wore this soft kitten-grey polka-dotted cardigan from Target.

And it went great with the red pencil skirt from Express

And with the grey Tibi Daisy flats…

China Glaze’s Recycle warm grey polish looked great too…

But really… it was all just a backdrop for the ring.

Isn’t this adorably stunning?

It’s the “Winter in Paris” snow globe ring from DIVINEsweetness on Etsy.  And I knew I had to have it the moment I saw it.  Worth every penny and the wait to get it.

It stands out and draws eyes while being subtle and delicate.  I’m just in love but I’m going to savor the wearing of this.  It’s too precious for every day….

Looking for Wu

Like everyone, I’m in search of items from the Jason Wu collection from Target.    While I like the items, the hassle of even trying to get, well… anything… pisses me off.  And I’m not going to buy from “scalpers” on eBay.  I just won’t do it!
After trying, no lie, 4 Target stores in our area, I found two pieces I liked.  The first was the cute cat tee.  I really want to get the scarf and bag too with this, but that hope remains unrealized.

I did nab one of the iconic shift dresses.  I think I’m going to wear this during this or next week with black tights, my YSL Mohawk heels and a black velvet blazer but for summer I’m totally adding a yellow patent belt and yellow Manolo Blahnik pumps.

While I was at Target I spied three other cute, light-weight dresses.  These are going to be great when it’s sweltering. Nice enough for work but casual enough for weekends.  Plus, I get to have fun playing with all the colors in the patterns and they were only $25 each.

I got the navy/red/white print…

Coral floral…

And I had to get the cobalt blue!

So fun!  Now… if you see that cat print bag, let me know!

Yes, hot pink is going to be huge for Spring/Summer 2012 but so is tangerine, coral, and my new favorite saturated hue… Cobalt.

I was smitten with this color and over the weekend was excited to see the perfect sweater at Target for wearing over bright patterned dresses.

I wore it right away with a fun oversized snake print skirt and….

my Manolo Blahnik Mladari mary janes.  Isn’t this color great?  And the heel height is just perfect.

I love that the strap is lower on the arch too.

These come in a great emerald green too.  This weather has been warm enough that it’s making me think about Spring clothes way too much.  I bought a whole bunch of dresses, now I want to wear them!

I couldn’t wait too long to wear the red version of the black & white dress from the other day.  I paired it with an olive embellished cardigan, also from Target, a skinny patent yellow belt and this cool vintage purse.

The purse was from an antiques fair I go to twice a year.  There a few favorite vendors that always have the best stuff.

The purse is strips of wood and opens from the top.  Perfect to take to our group lunch event.

The heels are Manolo Blahnik Uliepes – the perfect pump – and an awesome yellow.  They’re so pretty I took a bunch of shots so they’ll get a post of their own.

I had to redo my nails so I chose a neutral dark taupe – Zoya’s Pasha.  It’s a bit conservative for me so I’m not sure it’ll stick around for too long.

This was for a group lunch with folks I hadn’t met before.  Fun, comfortable but with some interesting color matching.  I hope I don’t bore you, because I love these two dresses and they are going to be fun to play with.

Yeah!  An outfit post!

I really need to try to find time to take these in the morning because, as you can see, the lighting in my house is “dim” to put it kindly. Dismal and cave-like would be more appropriate.

But, I was so happy with my outfit today I decided to take some shots anyways.  I made the mistake of going into Target last night and ended up with a bunch of stuff. Some of it needed, none of it pricey ($8 tanks, tees and yoga capris, yes please! $19 comfy cute dresses, okay! Robe so I stop scaring the neighbors, yep!) and perfect for wearing to work and on weekends.

The first thing I wanted to wear was this really cute stripey jersey tank dress. And then I saw the bright apple green 3/4 sleeve cardi.  I have to admit here that I am hopeless at mixing patters.  I love it on others, aspire to it and then fall into the trap of matchy-matchy all the time.  So here’s my happy little mixing outfit… I paired black and white stripes with a leopard belt and shoes.

WHOA!!!!

I know, I know, CRAZY TIME!!!!

This dress is so cute I got in solid red too.  Get ready for, wait for it… color-blocking!  Shut the font door!

It does have this nice little princess-seaming element.  Not a bad little detail for a less-than-$20 dress.

I’m loving the color/pattern combo.

For jewelry, I’m also mixing but more like matching – my Wendy Brandes “Chicken on Nest” necklace and my new “vegan” hen necklace from Julep115 via Etsy.

For shoes I wore my Coach (circa 2003-2004???) Tully leopard/oscelot kitten heels.
I do love a good kitten heel.

Grosgrain bows and heel detail.

I took a bunch more shots tonight so I have a lot to share over the next few days.
Onward into year five!

More outfit photos!  Can you believe it?

So, I spent a week miserable from sunburn and basically not wanting to go outside ever again.  When I did go out on Saturday I decided I was going to be as covered up as possible while still looking cute. Which means: dress, cardigan, espadrilles, parasol, hat and sunglasses.

I bought this white dress a few months ago knowing I’d want something cool to walk around in and it really is perfect for a hot day.  The good thing is I have a ton of cute shoes I can pair this with, from espadrilles to oxfords.

The dress is the “Who’s That Girl” dress from ModCloth and the adjustable tie and straps are great, plus it’s lined.

There are my shoes!

Wedge Espadrilles are the SUV of the shoe world.  These are Mossimo from Target.

I got to break out my Cambridge Satchel, finally.  It was going to go to New York but I didn’t have the room, plus I wouldn’t have wanted to take it out in the rain so I guess it’s a good think it stayed home.
We went to a town event held at our Park. It’s funny how stuck in a rut people get about clothes.  This may not be true in bigger cities but here in North Carolina, I am a fish out of water fashion-wise. I was just walking around on the sidewalks and then running some errands but, even though I was dressed very comfortably and simply with non-fancy or pricey clothes, people were gaping. If you don’t wear shorts/sneakers/jeans/flip-flops/t-shirts you are out of the comfort zone.
Not that I care.
The husband said I looked very clean and pretty and dressier then him but that’s most of the time anyways.  It doesn’t bother me how surprised other people are but I do find it funny.
Do you all get this kind of response when you “dress-up” a bit out of the “norm”?

Ensemble du Jour – Rainy Day New York

Whoops!  A missing New York visit outfit post.

This day it was rainy and I was walking so I did milkmaid braids.  I wore my vintage red trench over one of the Target floral dresses and black cardigan.  I walked down to Union Square and then the Chelsea Market so I went practical in black patent oxfords and creme ankle socks.

I always walk for miles when I’m in New York and I really feel that oxfords, Converse and wellies are better shoes to pack than heels… but somehow I still end up packing too many heels too!

Ensemble Du Jour: 6-3-11

Yep, it’s been a while since I’ve done an outfit post.  And I had to brave afternoon heat stroke and mosquitoes to get this.  How do you people do it???  Hat’s off to you!

It was Friday and hot so I’m in a simple outfit – red 3/4 sleeve cardigan and madras skirt from Target paired with my new Prada Minimal Baroque sunglasses and espadrilles.

I really love these red and white polka-dot wedge espadrilles from Payless. In my small size they are totally Minnie Mouse shoes.

My new glasses had arrived that day so I couldn’t resist taking a picture of my Miu Miu glasses and Pradas together.
