Tailored for Fall 2007

Looking at the Fall runway shows, menswear is again going to be big going into Fall/Winter ’07. I love wingtip and spectator styles and I think Miu Miu is going to have another hit with these shoes. The colors of the Naplak bootie will pick up the subtle tones in a pair of plaid pants.

I really like the way the leather fans up on the front of the heel version (these come in the same color combination as above).

Spazzolato, also by Miu Miu – The grey fans by the heel will be like little wings, perfect with a black wool pencil skirt.

Marc Jacobs Saddle Platform keeps the traditional details, but pairs them with aubergine leather, black suede and ultra-stacked heel for an edgier take on the style.
Juno tries to do a straight lift from the Miu Miu designs. I think maybe a little too close, but their colors are a bit more muted.
I’m also going to find some more affordable options at Target for working the menswear style into your Fall wardrobe.

Classic Cap-toes

As Summer winds down, all of the pre-Fall and Fall styles begin trickling into the stores. A design that still looks fresh during summer but that can also work with the more traditional styles that show up during fall are cap-toe – in heels, flats, boots or booties. During the Spring we saw how Miu Miu interpreted the design in Satin and with unique color combinations (see earlier post). In the late Summer/Fall, the traditional combination of black and white is more common.

This year, Chanel celebrated 50 year of this timeless design, which has been an inspiration for all of the designers to follow.

Marc Jacobs keeps to the traditional white shoe/black cap in his Fall flats, but reverses the trend in this ankle strap pump. I think this gives a look that can go school-girly, mod or very traditional.

Alloy’s NYC Mary Jane is a very affordable way to take advantage of this look. Because the design is so classic, even less expensive materials look sharp. And the wood platform and heel keep it summery.

This sharp-looking boot is actually from Payless. This mix of patent on the cap-toe and shaft keep this boot from being plain. Plus, the top piece zips off for another look.

Even though I don’t typically like booties, they are going to be big this Fall. These are my favorites and are by Christian Louboutin. This version is grey, white and black but they also come in solid black or white and black.

Because this is such an iconic look there are tons of interpretations out there and the design will come back year after year, so find a favorite.

This post’s for you!

In one of my earlier posts I talked about my distaste for Crocs (shudder). Well, my Dad thinks I have a vendetta against them and keeps trying to convince me that they are good. While I dislike them and personally would never wear them, my main issue is with people wearing them inappropriately.

If you want to wear them on your boat or in the garden, fine. Just don’t subject me to seeing them in the grocery store or at a restaurant.

However, my Dad, the Crocs freedom fighter, told me two negative things about Crocs yesterday that I thought I would share. 1.) His feet get dirty when he is wearing them and 2.) Ants can get in and bite his feet. If you have ever been bitten by fire ants in the South, you know what a bad bad thing that can be.

Aaacckk!

If bad fashion wasn’t enough to keep you from wearing them, is this scary enough for you?
